The Present Friend

At The Present Friend, our vision is broad, but our approach is specific. While our work in Dandora focuses on mass access to public education, we recognize that some circumstances require a different kind of intervention.

Sometimes, the bridge to a better future requires more than just a seat in a classroom—it requires the specialized attention, resources, and environment that only private education can offer.
This is the heart behind our second major project: Partnering with Mercy Purse to educate 30 children through access to quality private schools.

Quality Over Quantity: The Mercy Purse Mission
In many communities, public schools are overwhelmed. Classrooms are overcrowded, and teachers are stretched thin. For children who may have fallen behind, who come from particularly vulnerable backgrounds, or who show exceptional academic promise, a crowded public school might not be enough to help them thrive.

Working alongside Mercy Purse, we identified 30 children who need a more focused educational environment to succeed. By enrolling these children in private institutions, we are ensuring:
• Smaller Class Sizes: More one-on-one attention from teachers.
• Better Resources: Access to text books, technology, and learning materials.
• Holistic Development: A curriculum that often includes more extracurriculars, mentorship, and personal development.

The Investment: 60,000 KES Per Year

We believe in being upfront about the numbers. Quality private education comes at a higher cost, but the return on investment is a transformed life. The cost to sponsor one child in this program is 60,000 KES (approx. $415 - $450 USD) per year. This figure covers the comprehensive needs of a private school education, including tuition, administrative fees, and the higher standard of facilities provided.

While this is higher than the cost of public schooling, we view it as a strategic investment. We are not just paying for school fees; we are paying for an environment where these 30 children can truly flourish, catch up on lost years, and reach their full potential without falling through the cracks of a congested system.

As with every project at The Present Friend, your contribution is tracked.
• Verified: We verify the school fees and the enrollment of every student.
• Traceable: You can support a specific child or the project as a whole, knowing your funds go directly to the supplier (the school).
• Transparent: We provide updates, photos, and reports so you can see the difference that quality education is making in real-time.

Help Us Raise the Standard
We have 30 seats to fill. 30 minds ready to be challenged. 30 futures waiting to be rewritten.
Whether you can cover a full year’s tuition or contribute a small portion, you are helping us prove that quality education is a right, not a privilege.
Join us in giving these children the excellence they deserve.
